Russia expels US deputy chief of mission in retaliation******
Bart Gorman, the deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Moscow, has been expelled from Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday.
Gorman was ordered to leave in response to the "unjustified" expulsion of the minister-counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Washington, the ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a statement, following media reports earlier in the day.
The US Department of State "defiantly" ignored Moscow's request to extend the Russian diplomat's stay at least until the arrival of his successor, she noted.
The minister-counsellor's forced departure without a replacement aggravated the already critical shortage of personnel in the Russian diplomatic mission amid a "visa war" initiated by the Americans, Zakharova stressed.
She recalled that the United States has demanded the departure of 55 Russian diplomats as well as administrative and technical employees in two stages – by January 30 and by June 30 this year.
"In the understanding of the US administration, the normalization of bilateral relations is a one-way street, where only American interests are ensured and everything else is ignored," Zakharova said.

AIBA changed to IBA as boxing determined to stay at Olympics******
LONDON, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The International Boxing Association has changed its acronym from AIBA to IBA on Monday, promising to adopt a set of governance reforms so as to keep the sport's inclusion at Olympics.。
Three days ago, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that boxing, weightlifting and modern pentathlon may potentially be included in the LA28 Initial Sports Program by the IOC Session in 2023 if by then the respective IFs have demonstrated to the IOC EB's satisfaction that they have addressed certain areas.。
The international governing body of boxing expressed their gratefulness as boxing will remain on the Olympic Program for Paris 2024 and a pathway has been established for inclusion on the Olympic Program of Los Angeles 2028.。
"Just three days ago, the IOC gave its most recent advice to IBA, which included the adoption of governance reforms and diversifying our sources of revenue. It is a sign of how far IBA has come that we were already prepared to deliver convincing progress towards this at full speed," said IBA president Umar Kremlev.。
"We are doing much more than making very big improvements in individual parts of IBA. We are changing our whole culture in a lasting way. The new IBA is ready to serve the boxers of today and tomorrow, together with all those who support them," continued the Russian.。
During the IBA's Extraordinary Congress on Monday, a total of 107 of IBA's national federations were in attendance to approve changes such as the creation of a new Boxing Independent Integrity Unit, the decrease of the Board of Directors from 28 members to 18.。
Kremlev is confident that as long as IBA keeps working hard in terms of sporting integrity, financial integrity and governance, there will be no reason for boxing to be excluded from the 2028 Olympic Games.。
The IBA has also begun work towards defining weight categories and developing an Olympic Qualification System, subject to IOC approval, for Paris 2024. Enditem。
